Single-row cylindrical roller bearings with nylon retainers are capable of operating efficiently at temperatures below +120°C. The performance of the nylon retainer is generally unaffected by standard lubricants used in rolling bearings. However, certain oils or greases that contain base oils and include a high amount of EP (extreme pressure) additives may be used under high-temperature conditions. In situations where continuous high temperatures or harsh environments are present, it's recommended to use stamped steel retainers or machined brass retainers. For equipment that operates with ammonia or Freon-based refrigerants, nylon retainers can be used at working temperatures below 70°C. However, when operating at higher temperatures, it's better to choose bearings with machined brass or machined steel retainers for improved durability and performance.

Understanding the right type of retainer for different temperature ranges is crucial for ensuring the longevity and efficiency of bearings in various applications. Whether it’s a low-temperature refrigeration system or a high-temperature industrial environment, choosing the appropriate retainer material—such as nylon, steel, or brass—can significantly impact performance and maintenance requirements. Always consider the operating conditions and consult with bearing experts to make the best choice for your specific application.
