When installing tapered roller bearings, theoretical analysis and practical examples show that the standard deviation of bearing components can meet the required tolerances for width. Therefore, the single-row conical bearing can be installed using the exchange method. However, in real-world production, factors affecting bearing width go beyond just dimensional errors. Shape errors, such as the convexity of the raceway and the roller elements, play a significant role. Additionally, other geometric deviations in related parts also impact the overall width of the bearing. This means that relying solely on the standard calculation method for tapered roller bearings during the exchange process often leads to discrepancies between theoretical and actual results. For instance, while the calculated width may appear acceptable, it might not meet the required specifications after installation. To address this issue, adjusting the clearance during assembly by tightening the fit appropriately is an effective solution. In the manufacturing of tapered roller bearings, both the rollers and the inner and outer raceways are conical surfaces. The thickness of the conical contact base surface, along with the inner and outer conical contact surfaces, is influenced by the diameter, cone angle, and length of the roller and the cone. These factors collectively determine the performance and reliability of the bearing during operation.
