In-Depth Guide to Disassembling Cylindrical Bore Rolling Bearings

Disassembling cylindrical bore rolling bearings requires careful attention to detail and the right tools. If the bearing is removed, it's important to ensure that both the bearing and its surrounding components can be reused. The process typically involves pulling out the bearing ring using a suitable method. If this isn't possible, follow these steps: If the outer ring is tightly fitted, first remove the bearing and the housing from the bearing seat. Then apply pressure to the outer ring to extract it from the housing. If the inner ring is tight, remove the bearing and shaft together from the seat, then apply pressure to separate the inner ring from the shaft. For smaller bearings, a mechanical puller or hydraulic press is ideal. If the shaft or housing has a groove designed for disassembly, the process becomes much easier. Simply place the disassembly tool directly on the engaged ring. However, if no such groove exists, specialized equipment must be used. When dealing with a hot-pressed inner ring of a cylindrical roller bearing, induction heating is the preferred method. This technique heats the inner ring quickly, minimizing heat transfer to the shaft, allowing for an easy release. Hydraulic cylinders can also be used to push the bearing away from the mating surface. For bearings without a rib or with only a fixed rib, a heating ring made of light metal with a radial groove can be placed on an electric heating plate. Once heated to 200–300°C, the ring is positioned over the bearing’s inner ring and clamped with a handle. As the inner ring loosens from the shaft, the ring is removed immediately to avoid overheating and potential damage. In cases where induction heating is not available, or if there is no oil groove for hydraulic disassembly, a flame (preferably a ring-shaped burner) can be used to heat the inner ring. However, due to the sensitivity of bearing rings to uneven heating and localized overheating, care must be taken during this process.
