From November 28th to 29th, the Office of the Leading Group for Patent Analysis and Early Warning, under the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), convened a review meeting to evaluate the 2013 National Knowledge Bureau Patent Analysis and Early Warning Projects. Experts and senior officials from both within and outside the bureau participated in in-depth discussions and provided detailed feedback on the research outcomes of ten different patent analysis and early warning projects. He Hua and Yang Tiejun, vice ministers of SIPO, attended the event.
He Hua and Yang Tiejun commended the achievements of the 2013 projects, noting that each report fulfilled the set research objectives and effectively outlined the pathways and practical applications of patent navigation in driving industrial development. They emphasized the importance of further refining and showcasing these efforts, suggesting that continued work should focus on summarizing findings and demonstrating their real-world impact.
During the meeting, reports were presented on key areas such as 3D printing, super-hard materials, and micro-nano electromechanical manufacturing. Dozens of experts from government agencies, enterprises, and research institutions engaged in detailed discussions and provided constructive comments on these topics.
It is worth noting that SIPO's patent analysis and early warning initiatives began in 2008. Over the past five years, the office has completed 54 major research projects, including those on LED lighting and high-end lithography machines. Some of these studies have contributed to policy-making by offering critical decision-support insights. In 2014, SIPO plans to launch an additional 10 projects focusing on national priority areas and cutting-edge technologies, aiming to strengthen its role in guiding innovation and industrial strategy through intellectual property insights.
