The station, developed by the Department of Hydraulic Engineering at Zhejiang University, runs on solar energy, making it an eco-friendly and low-maintenance option. It uses natural bacteria to treat domestic sewage, which is then reused for irrigation purposes. The entire process is automated and requires no constant supervision, making it ideal for small communities with limited resources.
This project has received support from local officials and experts from the Anhui Recycling Economic Research Institute, who have been actively involved in monitoring and evaluating the performance of the system. During a recent inspection, they checked the drainage pool and confirmed that the system is functioning efficiently.
The investment required for each station is relatively low—around 200,000 RMB—and it can handle up to 40 tons of sewage per day. This makes it an affordable and scalable solution for villages across China, especially those with limited access to traditional sewage systems.
