Automobile engine parts valve and valve spring action

Everyone knows that the engine is mixed with air and oil, and then enters the engine cylinder to burn and explode to generate power, and then discharges the burned exhaust gas. The mechanism that controls the intake and exhaust of the four-stroke engine is the valve.

The valve is one of the most important parts inside the engine. The valve is divided into an intake valve and an exhaust valve, which looks like a horn. The intake valve is responsible for the control of the air entering the intake manifold and the fuel mixture (the direct injection in the cylinder is to supply oil in the cylinder), and the exhaust valve is responsible for exhausting the exhaust gas after the combustion in the cylinder. External control. The previous engine had only one intake valve and one exhaust valve per cylinder. This design is simpler and cheaper. The vehicle's low-speed response is good, but it is inefficient at high speeds. Later, in order to improve the efficiency of intake and exhaust, it is improved. The performance of the vehicle, most of today's engines use multi-valve design, the most common is the design of 4 valves per cylinder, taking the four-cylinder engine as an example, 4 cylinders per cylinder, 4 cylinders is 16 valves, that is, we often "16V" seen in magazines or on the web.

The action of the valve is to drive the camshaft through the belt or the metal chain connecting the camshaft through the crankshaft, and then the valve is pushed downward by the protruding portion of the camshaft to perform the action of intake and exhaust, and the closing action is handed over to the valve. The valve spring is responsible. Most of today's valve springs are cylindrical spiral springs, which rely on the tension of their springs to quickly return the open valve to the closed position and prevent the valve from creating a gap due to inertial forces during engine movement. The valve can be closely fitted in the closed state, and also prevents the valve from breaking the seal due to the beating when vibrating.

Since the valve and the valve spring must work in harsh harsh environments, especially the valve is directly in contact with the high temperature gas, there must be sufficient rigidity and heat resistance in the material. Most of today's valves are made of JISSUH3 special heat-resistant alloy that has been hardened, JISSUH36 (21-4N) advanced heat-resistant alloy steel, and STELLITE cobalt-chromium-tungsten alloy steel. Valve springs are mostly made of medium carbon chrome vanadium steel wire or silicon chrome steel wire, which gives the spring sufficient rigidity and fatigue resistance to withstand frequent compression loads and maintain proper spring force.
