Perforation occurs using a piercing machine, where the tube blank rotates and moves forward, forming a cavity inside—referred to as a capillary tube. This tube is then sent to an active pipe rolling mill for continuous rolling until achieving uniform wall thickness. The final step involves sizing via a sizing machine to ensure compliance with specifications. Utilizing continuous pipe rolling mills represents a modern and efficient method of producing hot-rolled seamless steel pipes.
Seamless steel pipes are defined by their absence of joints around their cross-section. Depending on the production method, they can be categorized into hot-rolled pipes, cold-rolled pipes, cold-drawn pipes, extruded pipes, and top pipes, each following specific procedures. Raw materials include general and high-quality carbon structural steels (like Q215-A~Q275-A and 10-50 steel), low-alloy steels (such as 09MnV and 16Mn), alloy steels, and stainless acid-resistant steels. Based on usage, these pipes fall into two broad groups: general-purpose (for water and gas transportation, structural components, and machinery parts) and specialized-use (for boilers, geological exploration, bearing applications, acid resistance, etc.).
