Japan develops a hand-held spherical reconnaissance robot: variable body shooting

According to Japanese media reports, the Center for Advanced Technology Promotion of the Technical Research Division of the Japanese Defense Ministry is developing a "hand-picked reconnaissance robot."

According to reports, the small reconnaissance robot can shoot indoors from the window into the building where the enemy or terrorists are located.

Early reconnaissance robots were the size of a rugby, while the latest robots were just as big as softball. The Ministry of Defense is currently improving its performance to be equipped in actual combat.

The reconnaissance robot of the built-in camera is a 11 cm-sized sphere weighing 670 grams. After being put into the designated place, it will be “deformed”, and the front and rear ends will become two “wheels”, which can move freely and take full-scale shooting of the active area.

From 20 to 30 meters, the operator can receive images and sounds transmitted by the robot. Even in dark houses, the robot can take infrared images in the range of 2 to 3 meters.

This robot is made of shock-proof rubber and is not subjected to ground impact when it is put into operation. At the same time, it can also cross obstacles as high as 2 cm, and battery-operated time is 20 to 30 minutes.
