Bathroom mirror cleaning tips

1. Avoid touching the mirror with wet hands or wiping it with a damp cloth, as this can increase the risk of water spots and damage the surface.

2. Keep the mirror away from salt, grease, and acidic substances, as they can easily corrode the reflective layer and reduce its lifespan.

3. Use a soft, dry cloth or cotton to clean the mirror gently, to prevent scratches or abrasions on the surface.

4. You can also use a soft cloth or emery cloth along with some kerosene or wax to polish the mirror for a clearer finish.

5. Wipe the mirror and frame with a rag soaked in milk to restore its clarity and shine, leaving it looking fresh and clean.

6. Before taking a shower, apply a thin layer of soap onto the mirror surface and wipe it with a dry cloth. This creates a protective film that prevents fogging during steamy conditions.

7. Apply a small amount of a gentle cleaning cloth or a mild detergent to the mirror using a dry cloth, spreading it evenly. The active ingredients in the cleaner help prevent moisture from condensing on the surface, offering an effective anti-fog solution.

8. Astringent lotions or mild detergents can also be used for similar anti-fog effects.

9. Using oil-absorbing paper is another effective method to keep the mirror clear and free from smudges.

Currently, anti-fog mirrors are widely available in the market. They come in two main types: coated anti-fog mirrors and electric anti-fog mirrors. Coated mirrors use a special microporous layer to prevent fog buildup, while electric models use heat to raise the surface temperature, causing any moisture to evaporate quickly. Although these advanced mirrors offer great convenience, they tend to be more expensive compared to regular ones.

In terms of materials, mirrors are typically made from either aluminum or silver. When selecting a mirror, it's generally better to go for a silver mirror. Silver has a higher density, which allows it to bond more closely with the glass, making it less likely to absorb moisture or become damaged over time. Most waterproof mirrors available today are silver-based, as they offer superior durability and performance in humid environments.
