Magnetic separator application

In the manufacturing, processing, and storage of metals, metal cutting powders often mix with cooling emulsions and lubricating oils used in machinery. If proper separation and filtration are not performed promptly, it can significantly affect the quality of the processed workpieces, the lifespan of mechanical equipment and pumps, the frequency of coolant replacement, and even the level of environmental pollution. Magnetic separators have been widely used for purifying grinding fluids. These systems use magnetic rollers to extract iron shavings and other ferromagnetic particles from the fluid. As the grinding fluid passes through the slowly rotating magnetic separator, the magnetic force attracts the metal chips, pulling them out of the fluid flow. The collected debris is then compressed and dehydrated by a rubber roller, while a scraper on the magnetic separator removes the accumulated particles. According to practical experience, cutting fluids that have been filtered using magnetic separators can last 1–3 times longer compared to those that are not filtered or only re-used after sedimentation. Additionally, the quality of the machined parts improves significantly. Research shows that whether it's finishing operations or conventional processes like drilling, reaming, boring, or expanding, using purified cutting fluids helps extend tool life and enhance the overall quality of the parts. Moreover, clean cutting fluids also prevent the growth of harmful microorganisms, contributing to a safer and more efficient production environment.
