For narrow and long precision surfaces, such as flatness, sine sizing, etc., the straightness error of the working surface is usually measured by interferometry. It can be measured once when there is a large flat crystal. When there is no large dry crystal, it can be measured by the segmentation method (see figure). During the measurement, the measured surface is equally divided into several segments according to the diameter of the flat crystal, and each segment is zero at both ends of the flat crystal, and the local straightness error value in the range is measured as the reading of the same point in the middle.
