The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars ("Ji Qing Fund") has reached the weak year. Since its establishment in 1994, Jieqing Fund has funded a total of 3,004 young scholars, with a total funding of 4.4 billion yuan. In the early 1990s, international science and technology competition and talent resources competition raged, and domestic high-level scientific research talents highlighted the "decade of faults." Professor Chen Zhangliang of Peking University at that time recommended the "Prime Minister Fund" to Li Peng, the then Premier of the State Council. The National Natural Science Foundation of China responded to the scientific and technological community's appeal and submitted to the State Council to set up a special fund to cultivate and create a group of outstanding academic leaders who have entered the forefront of the world's science and technology. The Party Central Committee and the State Council quickly approved this proposal and decided to establish the Jieqing Fund.
In the past 20 years, the scale of funding for Jieqing Fund has increased from 50 people per year at the beginning of establishment to about 200 people. The average funding amount has increased from 600,000 yuan to the current 2 million yuan. The scope of funding covers all disciplines of the natural sciences. And the frontier cross-cutting areas of different periods.
In the past 20 years, Jieqing Fund has always insisted on the innovative research of young scholars who have supported outstanding achievements in basic research, and attracted a group of high-level overseas young talents to return to China, selecting and cultivating a group of outstanding talents. The young talents have built a “landscape map†of leading talents in the frontiers of many disciplines, which has effectively promoted China’s scientific, technological, economic and social development.

With the support of Jieqing Fund, the help to me is very big. This is reflected in three aspects. First, it increases my self-confidence in research capabilities and potential, and dares to challenge important scientific issues. I am engaged in research work in the field of superhard materials. There is a long-term unsolved problem in this field, which is how to theoretically design new superhard materials. I and the teachers and classmates in the group came to the heart and carried out research on this problem and made important progress. Second, it has enhanced my sense of responsibility. Yanshan University, where I am located, is a provincial institution of higher learning. I am the first “Jie Qing†in this school. In addition to doing normal scientific research, my shoulders naturally have to shoulder the heavy responsibility of our discipline construction, team building, base construction and personnel training. It can be said that the influence of Jieqing Fund has penetrated into all aspects of our unit, and even affected the orientation and school-running level of Yanshan University.
