Valin Introduces Grades of Cubic Boron Nitride Blades for Cutting Powder Metallurgy Parts

Recently, Valin introduced the cubic boron nitride insert grade CDW20 suitable for cutting powder metallurgy parts. This grade has moderate toughness and wear resistance. For example, when processing copper-based powder metallurgy parts, good surface finish and processing quality can be obtained.

Processing iron-based powder metallurgy tool grade

BN-K20 grade: used for finishing and semi-finishing powder metallurgy materials, tool cutting tool ap ≤ 0.5mm; cutting line speed Vc = 150--230m / min. The cutting speed Fn=0.1-0.25mm/r is especially suitable for the impact of powder metallurgy parts with porosity. It has certain toughness and belongs to the mosaic structure with higher strength.

BN-S50 grade: Cubic boron nitride has a finer particle size, which is more wear-resistant in processing powder metallurgy parts, but only suitable for finishing with a single-side backing knife amount ap≤0.25mm. This grade can be used to make non-standard tools such as boring tools, grooving tools, etc. BN-S50 grade CNC inserts are welded composite PCBN inserts and formed PCBN cutter structures.

BN-S20 grade: medium-grained CBN blended, is a kind of monolithic polycrystalline cubic boron nitride insert, suitable for large-volume cutting of powder metallurgy parts, the amount of knife is ap≤3.5mm; can be used for rough processing of powder metallurgy parts And semi-finished, is a whole CBN blade structure.

How to choose three tool grades

1, according to the reserved machining allowance of the workpiece: the cutting depth of the BN-S50 grade can not exceed 0.3mm; the cutting depth of the BN-K20 grade can not exceed 0.5mm; and the BN-S20 grade roughing car is available, suitable for large The remaining amount is used for cutting.

2, BN-S50 grade CBN crystal grain is finer, high-temperature cutting state stability is excellent, suitable for high-speed finishing in the 0.25mm knife depth, can obtain excellent surface dimensional accuracy and tool durability.

3, BN-K20 grade: excellent impact toughness and fracture resistance, mostly used for semi-finishing and finishing, more capable of impacting the gap of powder metallurgy parts.

4, BN-S20 grade: It mainly consists of the whole CBN plus non-metallic binder to form a monolithic polycrystalline structure CBN sintered body.
